The Team Manager Establishment for Invercargill North is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2 to join the team and be based at SFF Finegand.

Korero mo te turanga - About the Role
SSF Finegand is a large multispecies premises (bovine and ovine) with 3 fulltime veterinarians based at the site. The operator processes dayshift Monday to Friday for most of the year, with a nightshift for approximately 5 months of the year, and Saturday processing as required during the season. The two MVs at the premises work across both shifts, and participate in a roster for Saturday work when required. The position would offer ample development opportunities for the successful candidate.
The purpose of this position is to undertake verification activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances.
Balclutha is the largest town in the Clutha district, which has a population of around 17,000. It is within easy reach of Dunedin, the Catlins and central Otago, which between them offer a wide range of amenities, outdoor activities and stunning southern countryside.

Reporting to the Team Manager Establishment Palmerston North, the role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate (VS). VS is responsible for ensuring the safety and suitability of New Zealand exports for overseas and domestic markets by providing food safety and biosecurity, verification and official assurances / certification required for exporting New Zealand's food and animal products to overseas markets. Maintaining and growing international market access for New Zealand depends on the continued excellence of our Veterinarians on the front line.

Skills and Experience | Nga Pukenga me nga Wheako
A qualified and registered Veterinarian
Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with HACCP, Quality Assurance systems, Risk Management Systems
Verbal and written skills, verbal and analytical reasoning skills
Integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability and openness
Persuading and influencing, team work, planning and organising
Computer literacy – can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.g. word-processing, excel, internet, email, database, secure sites, electronic certification, residues etc
An understanding of basic food technology
Experienced in MPI Verification Services systems and delivery of service.
A keen understanding of Triple O Core Concepts & Methodology.
