Registered Nurse / Duly Authorised Officer - CATT - Whangarei at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau, Northland Permanent – Full Time (1.0FTE) Mental Health and Addictions Services – Community Assessment & Treatment Team – Whangarei Te Whatu Ora is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Maori as Tangata Whenua as the highest priority.
We invite applications from an experienced, registered Mental Health Clinician who is also a ealthDuly Authorised Officer (or willing to work towards) to join us in an exciting role that is based in the Whangarei Hospital.
About the Role: CATT Team provide an awake 24 hour 7 day a week service with a 4 on 4 off 12 hour shift roster model for mental health in Whangarei and Kaipara, for individuals who are experiencing a Mental Health crisis and are considered a risk to themselves or others.
In this position you will conduct a preliminary assessment of the nature of urgency of the response required and provide robust and appropriate intake processes to ensure that all after hours referrals to Mental Health Services in Whangarei and Kaipara are managed in a timely and appropriate manner.
The Registered Nurse / Duly Authorised officer role will initiate a transformational change process to establish and implement Mental Health and Addictions related treatment and interventions within the Whangarei Department.
About you: Our ideal candidate will be a registered professional (i.e. nurse, social worker, psychologist) who has experience working with tangata whaiora and their whanau living with the effects of mental illness in our community and a proven ability to communicate well with tangata whaiora, their whanau and colleagues, and engage Maori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing.
Essential skills: Have at least five years' post-graduation experience and an annual practising certificate relevant to main qualificationBe a Duly Authorised Officer (or willing to work towards obtaining)Acute mental health experienceHave an understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the practice of cultural safety and responsiveness in a health care settingHave a full driving licence and the ability to travel throughout NorthlandClinical teaching experienceYou will work alongside other Kai Mahi within a supportive team environment of health professionals that is committed to delivering an excellent clinical and cultural service that reflects the needs of our tangata whaiora and their whanau.
