We are the Government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment and play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders. Our key responsibilities include providing policy advice to Government including developing investment and regulatory settings, legislative advice and Crown agency governance, accountability and performance. Nga whakamarama mo te tunga | About the opportunity As a Project Manager you will work within our new centralised Programme Management Office team providing project management leadership and support for the government's highest prioritised transport projects. You will work across the Ministry to lead significant, interesting and high-profile policy projects that will help shape the transport system for the future of New Zealand. This is a new role, established recently when Te Manatu Waka implemented a new structure and operating model to support the Government to deliver its priorities. Te wahi ki a koe | What you'll bring * Solid understanding of project management methodologies and best practices * Proven relationship and stakeholder management skills * Experience working in government and working with Ministers and other government departments and agencies * Knowledge of the machinery of government, particularly the legislation process * The ability to coach and develop the capability of more junior team members. * Qualification(s) in project management and/or relevant experience leading policy projects * Adaptability to changing project requirements and priorities Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau | Salary range The base salary budget is $127,142 – $140,812 per annum. The salary offered will be based on your skills and experience.
