This permanent role offers a competitive salary range plus additional on call allowances of 45-55% of base salary, a generous relocation and retention package, superannuation, and CME allowance.

Join a dynamic Critical Care team and play a key role in the expansion and revitalization of the ICU services at this state-of-the-art tertiary care facility.
The Critical Care unit is undergoing significant growth and is a a credentialed facility recognised by the College of Critical Care Medicine. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive environment and be involved in the transformation of the unit.

The Critical Care Department is the tertiary provider for Intensive Care to the Midland region of New Zealand. It is a state of the art, 16-bed facility providing all major tertiary services including a major trauma centre and the second largest cardiac surgical centre in New Zealand. It provides neurosurgical and regional burns care in addition to a busy general and paediatric intensive care, catering to the needs of 1500 ICU patients and almost 3000 HDU level patients each year. It operates a retrieval service by both air and road for critical care patients and a large contingency of cardiac patients.

The hospital now prepares to expand Intensive Care and seeks to further develop academic and research interests, in addition to further advance training of junior and senior medical staff. In accordance with the level of service provided, the unit is credentialed by the College of Critical Care Medicine at level C24. 


Preferred Requirements: Hold current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care MedicineSpecialist postgraduate qualification in intensive care medicineExperience in intensive care medicineSubspecialty interests including cardiac, paediatric, research, or academiaAbility to work in a multicultural environmentDemonstrated commitment to ongoing professional developmentRemuneration package

Remuneration consists of a basic salary on the negotiated national scale for senior medical officers which starts from New Zealand dollars NZD $ 190,000 and goes up to 270,000 dollars per annum. This is for a basic salary of 40 hours per week.

On call duties are awarded an additional allowance of up to 55% of basic salary per year top of this.

You will be entitled to additional allowances for superannuation, study leave and international candidates have a generous relocation package which includes sponsorship of visa, flights and accommodation / car lease for the first month after arrival.
