We provide a world class education for girls from Years 1-13, a boarding facility onsite and a co-educational Pre-School, with dual pathways through NCEA and the International Baccalaureate programme. Mo te tunga | About the roleWe are currently seeking a Deputy Head/PYP Coordinator for our Junior School (JS). This is a key leadership position with responsibility for teams in Years 1-6, student wellbeing and supporting the management of the Primary school and After School Care programmes. The Deputy Head of the Junior School/PYP Coordinator is also responsible for the effective development and delivery of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). Some responsibilities of the role include:Actively support the Head of the Junior School in the day-today operations and management of the JSPromote quality teaching practices across the JS in particular providing leadership to a Year cohortEnsure culturally responsive practices are embedded within the JS which recognise and celebrate Te ao Maori, using Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the foundationProvide visionary leadership for the PYP Programme, aligning it with the College's mission and educational philosophy and IB PYP principles and valuesFoster a positive PYP experience for students, encouraging their active participation in the programmeAssume responsibility for the induction, development, training and motivation of PYP teaching staff in collaboration with the Head of the Junior SchoolEngage with the wider school community through conducting regular sessions about the PYP programme We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, committed and innovative, who has demonstrated experience in a senior leadership position with staff management and school administration responsibilities. Success as a high performing teacher is a given, with at least five years in a Junior School context. A track record of experience as a PYP teacher or PYP Coordinator with a deep understanding of IB PYP Curriculum requirements is essential.
