A role where you can help to improve the living environment for our homeless, in a role that's filled with meaningful mahi. We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic new team member to join us as a Specialist Case Manager in Tauranga. Reporting to your Manager, you will use your frontline health or social service experience to provide Manaakitanga (support), negotiate outcomes, act as a key liaison and advocate on behalf of clients to help them achieve their Tino Rangatiratanga (independence). Using the Housing First approach, the priority is to rapidly find appropriate, stable housing and then Whanaungatanga (connecting) people with the services they may need to return to full social inclusion. You will reach out to clients, engage with landlords, develop housing, and support plans and do whatever it takes to help clients sustain long term tenancies. You'll be working Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm, based in Tauranga. About You | Mou If you're someone who's really passionate about doing what's right for people, if you're a strong advocate for social justice and believe that everyone deserves opportunities in life, if you think that building a better world starts with building strong communities, and if you firmly believe that having a place to call home is a fundamental human right - then you might be just the person we're looking for. You've got this knack for reaching out to people, a mix of street smarts and genuine compassion. You have this amazing ability to connect the dots, linking people up with the right resources, agencies, and services that can really make a difference in their lives. It's all about making things better for the people we support. You'll know the system, but you also know that sometimes you need to work it to get the best outcomes. In addition, you'll have Proven experience working in the mental health, addiction or social service sectors, and/or a relevant tertiary qualification i.e. clinical psychology, social worker or nursing, as examples Basic understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi, Reo Maori and Tikanga, with the desire to learn, share and grow in this area Experience engaging with Maori and Pasifika is highly valued Good physical fitness A current full and clean New Zealand driver's licence An understanding of the harm-reduction and Housing First approaches is advantageous, but not essential, as training will be provided.
