The primary function of this role is to improve safety and quality of care for Tangata Whaiora and their Whanau; accessing Te Whatu Ora mental health and addiction services and to assist in the enhancement of culturally responsive services for Maori to improve health outcomes for Maori. Te Roopu Whitiora are committed to ensuring equitable health outcomes for Maori as Tangata Whenua.Our ideal candidate will have experience working in Te Ao Maori and Te Ao Tauiwi, working alongside tangata whaiora and their whanau living with the effects of mental illness and addictions in our community.You will have the ability to communicate and advocate for tangata whaiora and their whanau, collaborate effectively with other members of the team, and engage Maori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing.As these are community-based roles, you must have a valid full drivers licence.The successful applicant will work alongside other Kai Mahi Maori within a supportive team environment of health professionals that is committed to delivering an excellent clinical and cultural service that reflects the needs of our tangata whaiora and their whanau.This role is a permanent full time position (1.0 FTE) working Monday to Friday 8am -4.30pmKey requirementsFull registration with Aotearoa NZ Association of Social Workers and/or the Social Work Registration BoardFull NZ driver's licenseWorking knowledge of key adult issues and psychopathologyExperience in evidence-informed therapies for people who have experienced significant trauma, psychosis and substance use problems (desirable)A career with Te Whatu Ora will see you action meaningful change in the region we love, and in your professional development – all whilst enjoying everything the stunning North has to offer.
