Job Description

Service Manager - Wellington District Court - Permanent Full Time
We are looking for a talented individual to come join District Courts as a Service Manager. The Service Manager reports to the Manager of Justice Services and will work collaboratively with a wider team to deliver services. To be successful in this role you will need to be an energetic and enthusiastic people leader with demonstrated skills in managing diverse teams. You will be able to build and maintain robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and build a high performing team underpinned by the Ministry of Justice values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
The role ofService Manager– The Service Manager's primary focus is to coach and support employees to increase capability and build a culture of high performance. The role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of services to improve operational quality and consistency across the team and wider Regional Service Delivery group.
In this position you will lead a team of processing officers whose work supports the Family Violence work of the District Court. A background in Family Violence would be an advantage.
Role and tasks include but is not limited to:
Service Delivery -To promote and maintain a people-focussed service culture across all service delivery activities. Ensure consistency of delivery through ongoing monitoring of service levels and quality (including technical accuracy, timeliness and efficiency), and take remedial action to address issues and improve service.
Leadership- Lead and reinforce a strong accountability culture which recognises the importance of coaching and growing people.
Relationship management- Build and maintain effective and robust relationships with stakeholders, the judiciary and key usergroupsas appropriate.
Capability Development -Identify and develop the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours (competencies) required for your team to be effective.
Health and Safety at Work –The Health and safety and wellbeing of all staff isa priority and you will provide leadership in this area.

To be successful, you will need to be
Operational management experience -preferably in a customer service environment
Previous experience in managing and developing the capability of employees–able to motivate and lead employees to achieve stretch targets and understand their contribution to the bigger picture
Lead change- have a good track record in supporting and implementing changes to business and work processes
Family Violence –An understanding of Family Violence and its impacts will assist in this role.
Resilience –there are times when working in the courts, you will be working on sensitive cases and sometimes confronting information.
