Service Leadership Groups (SLG) made up of Service Managers, Clinical Nurse Directors, and Clinical Unit Leaders work in partnership to share decision making across their service.
About the role
Reporting to the Operations Director of Surgery and Cardiovascular Services, we have a vacancy for a Service Manager - Acute Services.
This position is pivotal to the development and success of the surgical services and monitoring and maintaining an efficient and effective acute surgical service.
The Service Manager will work in a collaborative partnership with the Director of Operations and members of surgical services teams (clinician leaders, theatre manager, theatre nurse coordinators and service managers) to manage the demand and constraints within this service where there are performance targets and patient flow considerations. You will have responsibility for:
Efficient and effective operational management of the acute surgical service;
Monitoring, managing and leading the people, systems, processes and resources that facilitate efficient and timely operational management and effective service delivery;
Business planning, financial, human resource management and budget accountabilities as directed by the Operations Director: Surgical and Cardiovascular services;
Contributing to the development of the strategic direction of the organisation.
Requirements
Post graduate qualification or equivalent experience;
Superior communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across disciplines;
Significant leadership experience, including staff management and conflict resolution;
High level skills in planning, reviewing, analysing, financial management, procurement and supply chain management, and allocation of resources;
Experience in operations management and performance management;
Demonstrated experience in strategic and tactical decision making, planning and implementation.
Understanding of health policy and trends and their application at an organisational level.
