Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, creates and supports safe, healthy, inspiring and ICT enabled learning environments. EIS manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,500 schools with a book value of $17.8 billion, is responsible for the largest payroll in the country, and transports over 100,000 students to and from school each day.
About the role
The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for providing financial management expertise to the Capital Works Programme. As a group with hundreds of active projects underway at any one time, totalling hundreds of millions of dollars of capital expenditure in any given year, Capital Works requires an independent financial voice in the decision-making process. This role will have a close working relationship with the Programme Managers of the Capital Works Regions and the Regional Infrastructure Managers.

About you
You will have a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a similar business discipline and experience in an asset/capital intensive organisation, ideally in the construction industry.
You will also offer the following:
Effective communication and relationship management skills
A minimum of two years experience in a project accounting role
Experience of working with multiple data sources and systems to compile and generate management reports
The ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles/can get messages across with the desired effect
