About the team:
As a safety critical, highavailability, distributed system; air traffic management system engineering isthe top of the heap in terms of complexity. There is no down time, system mustrun 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, even during system upgrades.
This flows into the telecommunicationnetwork not being your standard critical comms network and is equally complexto ensure the services work as expected.
The Network Design team isresponsible for the procedures to architect, design, and delivery of projectsfor our critical network infrastructure. This includes the responsibility forensuring the technical knowledge is documented, maintained and accessible forthe operations and support teams. Ensuring the ongoing stability andavailability of services.
About the role:
Our Network Design Engineers ensure the provision of safe air traffic systemsby providing networking expertise in the design, installation, modification,and improvement of standards for equipment used by Airways and our overseasclients.
You will be a key member of the teamand provide specialist network design and technical leadership with a majorfocus on the future network and ownership of network design changes to Airwaysand international client networks. Day-to-day, this means providing networktechnical leadership for design and delivery of projects as well as subjectmatter expertise advise, quality improvement recommendations, equipment lifecycle management, for all our networks.
About you:
We are looking for someone who willexhibit pride and ownership for the availability and reliability of the networkto deliver the best network experience for our customers and assistwith the mentoring and coaching of other engineers to support technicallearning.
For success (and to be considered) you'll hold:
A relevant tertiary qualification ina technology related discipline (diploma or degree level).A minimum of 5 years of experience ina network technical design or operational role, in a complex critical infrastructureenvironment.A safety mindset with being able to effectively assess andcommunicate risks.Proven technical skills using variousvendor routing, switching platforms.Expert knowledge of multicast across mixed vendor environments.Interest in developing automation of network tasks.Proven high standard of clear design documentation.Experience in security by design concepts.A passion for excellence andattention to detail.
