Thesefull time, permanent jobs present excellent opportunities for specialists inintensive care medicine to join the Intensive Care Services in a tertiary CareHospital in New Zealand which provides medical and Surgical services to apopulation of almost one million people.

Our hospital and position The hospital has over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinicalspecialities include Women's and Children Services, Cardiology / CardiothoracicSurgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, a major trauma centre,neurosurgery and Mental Health and Addiction. It is a regional referral centrefor multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.

The ICU is a state of the art, 16-bed facility providing general adult andpaediatric intensive care, catering to the needs of 1500 ICU patients andalmost 3000 HDU level patients each year. There is also a retrieval service byboth air and road for critical care patients and a large contingency of cardiacpatients.

The ICU is on the path of expansion, increasing bed capacity and has beencredentialed by the College of Critical Care Medicine at level C24 and fortraining of junior and senior medical staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Youwill be accountable for functioning effectively as a consultant, providingoptimal, ethical and patient centred medical careYouwill establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudesappropriate to your practiceYouwill perform a complete and appropriate assessment of a patientYouwill use preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions effectivelyYouwill demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills, bothdiagnostic and therapeutic.RoleRequirements

Adegree in medicine - MBBS, MBChB, MDFellowshipof the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent specialistqualificationMedicalCouncil of New Zealand vocational registration or eligibility for this inthe scope of intensive care medicine.Bothsingle and dual trained specialists are encouraged to apply.
