About the role This newly created senior litigation role requires someone special. This role will involve complex and demanding litigation matters and range from high profile matters to smaller yet equally important issues.
ASB Bank invite a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Business Services legal team in this newly created role. Reporting to the Head of Litigation and Disputes, you will partner with stakeholders to provide will provide high quality legal advice to business units across ASB on complex and interesting matters.
Your day will traverse regulatory issues, civil proceedings, technology, and compliance, and you enjoy the opportunity to be involved in some ground-breaking cases on a wide variety of issues. You will provide effective legal advice to a range of stakeholders including the ELT and Board on a wide range of issues with particular focus on general commercial litigation and regulator engagement.

What we're looking for · At least 10 years good quality experience of complex litigation matters
· You must hold or be eligible to hold a New Zealand legal practising certificate
· Financial services experience is desirable, but not crucial
· Inhouse experience preferred
· Ability to work autonomously with support and to provide guidance to more junior staff as appropriate
· Sound understanding of conduct and reputation requirements
