Senior IT Project Manager at Ministry of Social Development, Wellington - Wairarapa Te Pae Tawhiti Transformation Programme is a major undertaking, spanning several years and delivering significant benefits to over a million New Zealanders who access MSD support and services.
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for managing and delivering New Zealand's welfare system, and the primary provider of social policy and advice to Government. MSD is embarking on a transformational change that will deliver a new service model enabled by new capabilities, systems, and processes. One of the pillars of this strategy is "Kotahitanga" which is aimed at "Partnering for greater impact", as we are stronger when we work together with others, which includes other govt agencies, whanau, hapu, iwi, providers and communities.

Te Pae Tawhiti – Our Future is about MSD's future role and how we can make a bigger and better difference for New Zealanders.18 Months Fixed Term opportunity – Starting April 2024Wellington basedAbout The role This role is required to work at the direction of the IST Technical Product Manager, Partner Self Service & IST Programme Director and will perform the delivery leadership for the MSD Technology workstream of the Kotahitanga initiative as part of MSD's Te Pae Tawhiti Transformation Programme. They will be responsible for providing planning, co-ordination, and reporting, as well as ensuring appropriate governance is in place, across the delivery of up to 30 team members within the Improvement Systems & Technology (IST) group over the next 18 months.
This team will perform the design, testing, and integration of MSD systems into the Oracle FMIS cloud based system as well as the decommission and disengagement of replaced solutions.
The role of Senior IT Project Manager will require experience and skills in managing the project management aspect of delivery alongside scrum and agile delivery management and technical leadership.
Skills And Experience We are seeking an experienced and confident delivery manager who has worked as part of a multi-workstream programme, involving organisational and operating model change. Their skills will encompass core project management activities such as planning, financial management, risk and issue management, reporting and governance of significant workstreams.
The ideal candidate will also: have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, be highly organised and able to balance multiple conflicting demands.possessleadership qualities, able to galvanise and motivate team members working as part of a leadership team for the Kotahitanga initiative.be familiar with multiple delivery methodologies, including iterative and agile at scale.have a proven track record of delivering technology change in a large and complex environmenthave experience in working with vendorsideal candidate would have experience on delivery of FMIS or contracting systemTo apply, click the 'Apply Now' button to upload your CV, cover letter and complete the online application form.
