You will need to be competent with performing the below skills for Retail Management;
Leadership skills are essential. This will involve a spectrum of abilities, right from recruitment and training, to motivating long term employees on a day to day basis. You will need to be able to form good working relationships with our team. The ideal candidate being pro active in making quick decisions, and improvising without guidance. You will be given financial targets to achieve on a daily basis to ensure you motivate the team to reach such goals.
The store is a busy and unpredictable environment. This means your rostered hours may be subject to changes, you will need to stay flexible in this respect and adhere to the hours the department requires each week.
Relationship building with suppliers will also be involved, the ability to build a rapport is important, although not essential.
Elements of stock buying will be involved. You will need a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain process, from forecasting buying to receiving the stock in good condition. This will require knowledge of software such as Excel/SAP.
Experience with merchandising stock. You will need to understand the aesthetics involved with planning promotional displays and building them to an appealing standard.
Customer Service skills are required as you will deal with one on one complaints that escalate past checkout control.
Knowledge of store health and safety policies is necessary, from product recalls to appropriate stock storage. You may also be involved with cash handling should you be involved with customer refunds etc.
To be a successful Inventory Controller you will need;
Numerical skills are essential, to efficiently calculate stock counts. This may involve a variety of arithmetic and problem solving to ensure productivity of counting each category.
You will be coordinating counts on all dry goods categories from a daily to annual basis.
SAP experience is required.

It is essential that you have retail experience and experience with managing staff for this role. The level of remuneration will reflect the skills and experience that the successful candidate has.
While not essential, it would be an advantage if you also held a General Managers Certificate. This can be obtained through us when you begin employment.
The exact hours and days of the position will be discussed with applicants at the interview stage, although you will be required to work at least one weekend day.
