This would suit an experienced neonatal nurse with a passion for innovation and delivering high-quality or an interest in clinical research to join our growing team.About the roleThe successful applicant will be responsible for study recruitment, data collection and the effective coordination of the DIAMOND Study.This role will be working as part of a large team investigating how nutrition in preterm babies impacts their development throughout childhood. The team is based at the Liggins Institute, a vibrant, research-intensive institute just across the road from Auckland City Hospital.DIAMOND stands for Different Approaches to Moderate & late preterm Nutrition: Determinants of feed tolerance, body composition and development. It is a multi-centre factorial design randomised trial aiming to assess the effect of different feeding strategies in moderate- to late-preterm infants on body composition, feed tolerance, time to full feeds with mother’s own milk, breastfeeding rates and neurodevelopmental outcome in childhood.The key responsibilities of this role areRecruit, randomise and collect data for the DIAMOND trial at Auckland City Hospital NICUCoordinate and provide education about the DIAMOND trial to doctors and nursesLiaise with the DIAMOND study team, including participation in the trial and wider research meetings.Liaise with the research nurse for MR.DIAMOND, the sub-study involving MRI of the brain in moderate-late preterm babies.Liaise with North Shore/Waitakere (and potentially other) hospital DIAMOND research nurses, and NICU medical and nursing staff, whenever a baby enrolled in DIAMOND, is to be transferred between hospitalsOur ideal candidateBe a registered Nurse with an Annual Practising Certificate in NZ, with additional qualifications and experience in neonatal nursing.Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in neonatal nursing and experience in nurse educationExperience of working within multi-disciplinary teams.Have excellent interpersonal, and written and oral communication skillsBe able to work unsupervised.This is a fixed-term position ending December 2021 with a minimum of 0.4 FTE made up of flexible hours based at Auckland City Hospital.For more detailed information about the responsibilities and requirements of the role, please review the Position Description HERE.Why work with usAt the Liggins Institute, you will enjoy a close-knit, high performing culture, driven by a shared vision to understand how early life events impact lifelong health.
