You will help us develop our offer for all audiences, with a special focus on working for and with Maori communities.The Public Programming team creates opportunities for manuhiri and communities to have meaningful engagement across the breadth of Te Papa's activities.As a Public Programming Specialist Kauapapa Maori, you will be responsible for the creative design, development, delivery, and evaluation of public programmes across the museum. These programmes will enhance our offer for all audiences, with a particular focus on creating meaningful opportunities to engage with Te Ao Maori across Te Papa resources and collections.You will draw on your creativity and experience working with whanau, hapu and iwi to engage Maori audiences in new ways. You will lead on a range of kaupapa such as Matariki and Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori with strong support from a dedicated team. You will support our team to embed te ao Maori concepts within public programmes and help develop our relationship with iwi and new audiences.You will also work alongside other staff at Te Papa such as Iwi Relationships, curatorial, collections, exhibitions, and visitor services teams.About you:You are an advocate for Maori communities and contributing to matauranga Maori. You enjoy developing new programmes and products, and you believe in testing ideas and experimenting.You have strong networks and relationships in your field and are skilled in supporting public engagement.You have experience in creating and developing public programmes for a wide range of audiences. You are a passionate and talented producer or practitioner who brings a wide range of skills to make a real difference to the people you work with. Some flexibility in hours to supervise and deliver public programmes on evenings and weekends is required. The starting salary for this position will be between $79,299-$85,000with further room for progression through the band. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role and internal relativities with other employees.Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including police vetting and reference checking as a minimum.Te Papa is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children.
