What You Will Do
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Specialist to join the Financial Services Team. You will be responsible for the development and execution of procurement strategies, including the management of tenders and negotiation processes. You will manage contract and supplier performance to ensure compliance and an efficient end-to-end supply chain process. You will maintain market and supply intelligence to maximise opportunities and meet stakeholder requirements.
The role has plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and experience. As a Procurement Specialist you will be a key advocate for the role procurement plays in helping us become a high performing university. We are committed to delivering procurement excellence both internally and externally.
In the role of Procurement Specialist you will:Be a trusted advisor contributing to the efficient and effective procurement process

Support contract owners to plan and execute procurement activity, providing data and advice to inform decision making, whilst ensuring compliance to policy and regulatory requirements
Assist contract owners to draft agreements and associated documentation that ensures the provision and measurement of quality and value by suppliers to the University

Support contract owners to effectively manage supplier and internal stakeholders in relation to supply contracts

Who You Are
As the successful candidate, you will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:Significant experience in procurement, with IT procurement experience advantageous

Proven experience in successfully leading and managing change in a procurement context
Demonstrated ability to foster and manage new and on-going supplier relationships
Proven ability to analyse complex data and communicate this information to various internal and external stakeholders
Experience in improving business processes and streamlining procedures
Demonstrated leadership and ability in running a smooth and effective business process such as RFP, extending to the negotiation of complex contracts, such as panel contracts and contract management
Strong understanding of legal requirements and contractual obligations with an awareness of the potential impact on business activities
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills

Established problem solving skills

Proven ability to develop trust and understanding across all functions and levels
Ability to drive improved performance, manage risk and encourage continuous improvement from the University’s significant expenditure will be key to success

Excellent computer skills which includes intermediate or advanced Excel skills

The role of Financial Services is to provide central procurement, accounting, business insight, advice and processing of financial transactions. The unit provides a high quality service while developing and maintaining excellent collaborative relationships with internal and external customers. The procurement team champions the quality of execution of the end to end procurement process - from identifying business need, through to contract management.
