Are you an experienced Procurement professional ready to take on a pivotal role in a dynamic and growing district? Queenstown Lakes District Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Procurement Manager to lead the establishment of a dedicated Procurement function. As the successful candidate, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing procurement practices across the Council, ensuring the delivery of excellent outcomes while managing supplier engagements efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of Procurement Policy, Standards, and Guidance, aligning them with best practices and regulatory standards.
• Provide expert commercial advice across all Council departments, guiding procurement users in planning and sourcing strategies.
• Own and deliver on category strategies through tenders and market exercises, ensuring efficient spending across multiple Council departments.
• Manage the overall delivery of the Procurement Strategy, leading a multi-year improvement program and reporting progress to the Executive Leadership Team.
• Drive the evolution of procurement tools and templates for improved efficiency.
• Establish oversight of all Council procurement activity and performance, ensuring adherence to process and good practice.
Key Experience:
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (commerce, finance, management/business, law, or logistics) or equivalent industry-specific applied knowledge.
• 3-5 years of experience leading a Procurement function or in a Senior Procurement position.
• 10 years of overall experience in Procurement, with comprehensive knowledge of all functional areas.
• Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong political awareness and appreciation of procurement-related risks.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
