The Mackenzie District Council has aunique and exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join our team and buildon and continue the mahi (work) that we have been undertaking.
As our Planning Manager, you will beresponsible for leading a team of six Planners (all at varying stages of theircareers) whilst overseeing a range of diverse work such as completing ourcurrent District Plan review, resource consent applications and compliance,contributing to our strategic and operational planning, monitoringenvironmental impacts and ensuring regulatory compliance, advising Council onRMA reform and legislative changes, and ensuring that our strong relationshipswith mana whenua are maintained. If you want to own the PlanningManager role you will need the following qualifications, technical skills, knowledge,and abilities:
A relevant tertiaryqualification preferably in Planning or Resource Management related fields.Previous and provenexperience in a People Leadership / Management position.Minimum of sevenyears' experience in planning, resource management, district planning or policyanalysis.An excellentunderstanding of district plan / plan changes and consent processes.Be able to demonstratestrategic and technical competence in the relevant statutory and policyframeworks and processes.Strong workingknowledge of the Resource Management Act and its implementation.A sound workingknowledge of Local Government.This is a full time, permanent role(40 hours per week) based in Fairlie, South Canterbury.
