THE ROLE This presents as a significant career opportunity to take the lead and responsibility for the day to day management and strategic alignment of the operations of the WRAC facility. The facility itself is impressive and stands out as one of the key facilities for national and regional aquatic events.
Reporting into the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre Manager, you will help develop facility strategy and shape direction, 'creating purpose' for staff as you lead them with a vision where they can establish careers and thrive, providing them with tools and qualifications which positively impacts on the facility management and services offered to the community.
The responsibilities are broad, relationship management is key component, as is leading and developing the operations team to deliver diverse aquatic services and experiences that meets the needs of their communities including, safe operations and supervision of customers, high standards of facility presentation, water quality, and a professional and high performing team.

The position description will give you great insight however in essence we want you to have:
Leadership experience in an aquatic facilityUnderstanding of relevant policies and procedures; including health and safety, standard operating procedures, risk, and emergency action plansProven staff leadership and management skillsCoaching, mentoring, and training skills, the ability to grow and develop capabilities of a teamProgramme administration, delivery, and evaluationFinancial planning skillsProblem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster effective stakeholder relationshipsTHE LEADER - FIONA Fiona is a supportive manager, who is open to ideas to make improvements, keen on enhancing the WRAC experience for staff and its users. She will give you guidance and support however wants you to make the role yours.
She will put you in touch with other leaders across Parks Sports and Rec, to embed you in our leadership practice and empower you to grow your skills and career experience.
Fiona has an extensive background through all aspects of aquatics and joined us in 2022 relocating to Welly for the incredible management of WRAC opportunity.
