Operations General Manager - Marlborough Tour Company

Marlborough Tour Company (MTC) is the largest and longest-running touring company in the top of New Zealand’s South Island. Family-owned, it is passionate about showcasing the very best of Marlborough.

In 2018, MTC added to its existing tours and cruises by acquiring two well-known Marlborough Sounds Lodges, Furneaux Lodge and Punga Cove. This was followed by the purchase of Cougar Line, Picton’s long-time water transportation company and most recently, the Pelorus Mail Boat operating out of Havelock.

Reporting to the CE, Marlborough Tour Company (MTC) are searching for a talented Operations General Manager to manage change to key business and operational functions; specifically MTC tours and cruises, Cougar Line and the Pelorus Mail Boat.

Accountabilities include contributing to the business strategic direction, financial management, and overseeing the day-to-day logistics of the different tourism operations. This includes providing leadership and direction to the teams across logistics management, customer service, management of vessels and coaches and promoting health & safety.
Instrumental to your success would be:
• Working closely with the sales & marketing team to deliver on the brand experience for each operation and identifying unique opportunities to grow sales.
• Leveraging relationships with external stakeholders, such as wholesalers and tour operators.
• Having a leadership style that grows and develops those around you whilst providing a strong sense of direction.
• Proven ability to manage a range of tourism operations in a commercial, pragmatic and financially prudent manner.
• Ideally bringing an understanding of Marlborough and Aotearoa New Zealand as a product and destination.

This is a senior operational role and will present considerable growth opportunities for the right individual.
