The Role:
We are seeking anOcean Freight Hinterland Transport Operatorto join our busy Ocean team in Auckland.
Departmental/Operational key Responsibilities may include:
Handling customer requests and giving quotations on Ocean services.
Dealing with and resolving customer complaints- ensuring they are lodged in the Schenker Quality program.
Make bookings with the most appropriate carrier to meet the customers' requirements- whilst ensuring spot rates and used wherever possible.
Preparing invoicing and costing as per the agreed rate structure/ quotation
Activate files, make bookings, process documents, manage transhipments -for all Airfreight shipments and consolidations for General cargo/ Perishable / Aerospace shipments as per the Global SOPs,
Comply with all regulatory requirements as they related to Ocean Freight / Perishables as well as Customs, MPI, RACA requirements
Keeping customers informed of shipment status and exceptions; continuously review service received from carriers / partners and follow up for future improvement.
Understand the operational cut offs - and ensure all documents and processes are completed in time to avoid delays and off-loads ensuring absolute compliance to client procedures and business SOP's
Complete customer shipments with excellence - and always look for opportunities to continuously improve.
All documentation is stored correctly electronically in Tango and ODM
Provide cover and support where required within the whole of the Ocean department.
Any other additional duties as may be directed from time to time by the Operations Manager and Senior Management.
Requirements
Competencies and Skills required:
An ability to deliver accurate work within deadlines
Able to multitask, reprioritise, proactive and deal with conflicting issues; ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
High level of customer service; a strong customer focus; professional and competent when dealing with external and internal clients
Ability to work in a team and autonomously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level of confidentiality, trust, loyalty and discretion
Exceptional organisational skills along with attention to detail and ability to maintain high level of accuracy in all work areas
Available for flexible and/or additional working hours including weekend rosters
Competent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Sound knowledge of Freight Forwarding; preferably with 2+ years Ocean freight experience
Previous experience in customer service
Customs Pin is desirable
