We work collaboratively with iwi, Government, not-for-profits and businesses to achieve outcomes that benefit our community.Te aheinga The opportunityWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the health and safety of our employees. This will be a permanent part time position - working 24-30 hours per week.Develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health programs in compliance with regulatory standards and company policy.Conduct health risk assessments to identify improvements.Provide initial assessment and treatment of work-related injuries and illness.Administer first aid and emergency care as needed.Refer employees to appropriate healthcare providers for further evaluation and treatment.Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of employee health information.Design and deliver health promotion activities to encourage healthy behaviours and lifestyles among employees.Conduct educational sessions on topics such as injury prevention strategies, ergonomics and nutrition.Manage cases of occupational injury and illness, including follow up care and rehabilitation.Coordinate with healthcare providers and Workaon as necessary.Monitor employee progress and facilitate return to work programs.Stay up to date on relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards.Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.Manage NPDC worker vaccination programme within budget to achieve effective outcomes and risk minimisation.Input into NPDC's core corporate HSW policies and procedures.Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, holding valid practising certificate.Five years minimum work experience in a health role.Have as a minimum developed and implemented health promotion and disease prevention strategies and programmes related to workplace risks.Post Graduate Diploma or Degree in related field (e.g., occupational health practice, environmental health & safety, occupational rehabilitation, psychology, ergonomics) (desirable)Achieved level 2 NZOHNA qualification within the Knowledge and Skills Framework 2016 (proficient OHN) (desirable)Knowledge and understanding of current New Zealand health and safety legislation.Understanding of occupational health and injury management practices and processes.Some knowledge of relevant HR policies and procedures.Proven ability to build strong working relationships.High level of computer technology competency and Microsoft Products, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Excellent organisational and time management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proven ability to work independently and make decisions as required.He aha ai a Taranaki?
