If successful you would be working in partnership with the women of Tairawhiti and their whanau alongside their LMC's. We provide primary and secondary care within a collegiate and supportive environment. We have one of the highest birth rates per capita, with approximately 700 births per year in our culturally rich region.
Puawai Aroha Maternity Unit  boasts a relaxed atmosphere with five birthing suites and eight ante/postnatal rooms which are well resourced to provide high quality and safe care from our friendly team.
These suites/rooms are situated together so midwives work across all areas of their scope of practice which would enable you to enhance your practice whilst completing the Midwifery First Year in Practice programme. We also run an antenatal clinic catering for the needs of pregnant women referred to us for a consultation or transfer of care from the LMC to our secondary care services.
Are you in your final year of midwifery study or recently sat your final examination or already a new graduate midwife thinking about options for consolidating your knowledge into practice?
