About the role:

MentalHealth, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Services understands that for many people coping with their illness or disability is not easy at the best of times. In recognising the importance of supporting people to seek help and to recover we provide a range of services that help people to live a fulfilled life.
We are actively recruiting nurses who have completed their Bachelor of Nursing to join our dedicated teams to help make a difference to all New Zealanders accessing our services.
This New Entry to Specialist Practice (NESP) programme will give you the opportunity to follow a career in mental health, addictions and intellectual disability nursing. Working with us you will have good opportunities for professional development and progression.
As a Registered Nurse NESP, you will be offered a 72 hour a fortnight fixed term contract that coincides with the tertiary education calendar to enable you to take paid study leave to complete the academic requirements of the programme. Once the academic requirements are completed your hours will increase to 80 a fortnight for the rest of your two year contract. You will be offered two rotations within the services which may include adult, youth, older adult, forensic, community, early intervention, intellectual disabilities, Maori mental health or Health Pasifika.
We partner with Whitireia New Zealand to offer a comprehensive introduction to Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Nursing. This partnership enables you to complete a postgraduate certificate in nursing, Mental Health and Addictions or a Postgraduate certificate in speciality care by the end of the Programme.
