The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, Health NewZealand Te Whatu Ora – Capital, Coast is seeking applications from SpecialistAnaesthetists for a permanent full-time vacancy we currently have available.Clinical work will encompass anaesthesia for a wide range of surgicalspecialties, preoperative assessment of patients, involvement in acutepostoperative pain management, and participation in an on-call roster. A challenging,tertiary level, case-mix is offered but can be tailored to the individuals pastexperience and areas of interest. Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora – Capital, Coast hospitals includeWellington Regional Hospital (servicing a tertiary population of 900,000) andKenepuru Hospital (a secondary level community hospital). There are a total of19 operating theatres. The department provides anaesthesia for all surgical specialtieswith the exception of plastic surgery, paediatric cardiac surgery, and Heartand Lung Transplant Surgery. The department has an active education programme that includesAustralian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists fellowship training for 20trainees, continuing education for specialists and participation in an on-site,high-fidelity simulation training suite (The Wellington Regional Centre forSimulation and Skills Education). The research and education centre providesopportunity to pursue research interests.
