Our environment and our people go hand-in-hand.We're seeking a Network Engineer to manage and maintain an efficient and effective network and telephony infrastructure for Toi Moana and our IT partners. This is a critical role within our team that enables all other IT service delivery to be possible.
This is a permanent, full-time role located in Tauranga. The salary range for this position is between $92,455.35 and $108771.00 and appointment within that range will be dependent on skills and experience of the successful candidate. 
Te ahuatunga a te turanga | About the role Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, you will be responsible for the provision and monitoring of our complex interconnected systems which form our network infrastructure. In this role, you will:
Manage the day-to-day operation, maintenance and upgrades of Cisco Switches and Routers.Manage the day-to-day operation, maintenance and upgrades of Fortigate Firewalls and Access Points.Detect, diagnose and remedy outages or performance problems.Plan, design, implement and provide technical leadership on Network related projects.Provide specialist technical advice and troubleshooting support.Maintain and keep abreast of specialist knowledge of telecommunications and networking best practice and technological advances. O pumanawa | Your skills and experience You will have excellent communication and customer service skills and at least 5 years' relevant experience in the IT industry to ensure you have sound knowledge of server and desktop operation systems, routing and switching technologies.
You will also:
Have at least 3 years' experience managing WAN & LAN networks in an enterprise environment.Have a relevant tertiary qualification in computing, information systems, computer science or business computing.Have well-developed knowledge of routing and switching technologies, firewalls, QoS, BGP, VoIP and traditional telephony systems. Be able to keep calm and work under pressure.Take a methodical and logical approach to problem solving.Be an effective communicator, both verbally and written.Be able to work collaboratively both within and across teams, but also autonomously when required.Be available to be part of the on-call roster for after-hours support. Be great at multi-tasking and have effective project coordination skills.Ko wai matou | Who we are Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for land, air and water as well as public transport and economic development.
