Te Whatu Ora - MidCentral actively seeks to hire competent and experienced Maori kaimahi as our active commitment to our Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership, and as a reflection of the communities we serve.
Pae Ora Paiaka Whaiora Hauora Maori Directorate is passionate about supporting and enabling visibility of the health workforce opportunities within our district for students, and potential kaimahi across Aotearoa.
Supporting the Maori Workforce Development programme of work, looking after our kaimahi and tauira (students) contributes to improving health outcomes through effective workforce development in an authentically Maori way. This work programme aligns to the overarching strategies of Kaimahi Ora, Whanau Ora workforce implementation programme, and Ka Ao, Ka Awatea, as well as national strategies across the health and public service system in Aotearoa.

Based at Palmerston North hospital, this is an exciting, busy role; we are open to applications from kaimahi who possess a broad range of transferable skillsets including leadership, recruitment, education, clinical/health related experience and/or human resources experience to help reinvigorate and build new initiatives to support growing and nurturing our Maori Kaimahi within the MidCentral district.


To be successful in this role you will need:
Experience navigating and understanding government machinery to achieve strategic outcomes.Developing and translating strategies to empower, enable and drive Maori specific initiatives across the district in partnership with our Iwi and Maori.Experience designing strategies to achieve results in a time orientated and people focused approach.Experience with recruitment and attraction methodology, and/or education growth strategies with effective presentation skills with successful outcomes.Ability to contribute and create connections across the district to support key initiatives, within your area of scope/strengths.Excellent computer literacy, particularly Windows, project related knowledge and methodology, Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Ability to communicate with and influence a wide range of audiences, and compile reports analysing data and translating it accordingly.Excellent writing skills and can work within a team and autonomously.Given the nature of this role and the outcomes we are aiming to achieve; having knowledge of te ao Maori and te reo Maori (oral and written) is advantageous.
