We're better together.Position Purpose: As the Manager of Actuarial and Forecasting, you'll collaborate closely with the Head of Risk Modelling to provide strategic insights, modelling expertise, and advice. Your role involves leading actuarial valuations, ensuring timely and accurate data and insight delivery to stakeholders, and contributing to the ongoing uplift of the awareness of the capability and realm of influence of the Actuarial function.Key Relationships: You'll interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including the CFO, Chief Readiness and Recovery Officer, Head of Risk Financing and various government agencies, private sector entities, and consulting actuaries.This is a broad and varied role - Here's some of the things you will do:Build and nurture key relationships both internally and externally.Oversee bi-annual actuarial updates and provide technical review and challenge.Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts.Lead specific programmes of work including valuation and pricing.Provide formal reporting to the Board and Treasury.Contribute to actuarial team development.Collaborate with other groups to shape strategic plans and initiatives.The role is broad-ranging and somewhat unique in the NZ setting, offering exposure to both traditional actuarial work and areas such as catastrophe bonds, geo-spatial modelling, and resilience and risk reduction initiatives.What You'll Bring:We're looking for a qualified actuary, particularly from general insurance or reinsurance, although experience in life insurance or other actuarial domains will also be considered.You must demonstrate leadership qualities, including self-awareness, agility, curiosity, honesty, courage, and resilience.We seek candidates who demonstrate confidence, high emotional intelligence (EQ), and the ability to nurture and coach their team.You will be a skilled influencer, who can engage with the Board and senior leadership, showing by example the value the Actuarial function can add.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying needs and developing processes and systems are essential.Why Join Us?
