Learning Specialist Calling innovative kaiako and educators In an exciting period of transformation and growth, Te Papa is seeking innovative educators to contribute to the development of our learning programmes for akonga. You will empower our learners to engage with Te Papa's collections, exhibitions and resources by designing and facilitating meaningful learning experiences, resources and products for akonga. You will help us grow our learning communities and expand our reach and accessibility through learning.
You will work as part of a team to design rich and authentic programmes for akonga within both formal and informal learning settings. You will design programmes that enrich school based curriculum leveraging the power of taonga, stories and communities. You will love the possibilities that Museums offer to enrich and deepen learning, and will be experienced at with developing and delivering innovative curriculum learning.
The Learning team comprises of specialists across museum education including formal learning, early childhood, kohanga reo, kura kaupapa, primary and secondary school audiences. Learning Specialists work closely together to facilitate a dynamic range of learning programmes for school and kura groups, onsite, on outreach and by digital delivery. You will also work alongside Te Papa staff in curatorial, collections, exhibitions and visitor services teams.
About you: You are a passionate and talented kaiako who engages learning and technology to make a real difference to the communities you work with. You are creative, innovative and skilled in supporting learning inside or outside of the classroom,. working with groups of akonga of all ages. You have strong networks and relationships in your field.
You're a lifelong learner with a growth mindset who enjoys creative problem solving. You enjoy developing new programmes and products, and you believe in testing ideas and experimenting. You're a team player with great ideas and the skills to bring them to life and
You're well versed in The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and have sound understanding of learning theory. A formal teaching qualification is an advantage.
This role is permanent and full time (40 hours). A fixed term secondment – especially for a kura based kaiako looking to reinvigorate their practice would be welcomed. Other arrangements may be considered for the right person.
The starting salary for this position will be between $79,299-$88,000with further room for progression through the band. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role and internal relativities with other employees.

Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including police vetting and reference checking as a minimum.
Te Papa is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. Because a component of this role involves interaction with children, appointment and continued employment is at all times conditional upon the completion of a safety check and subsequent periodic safety checks conducted in accordance with the Children Act 2014 and the Children's (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children's Workers) Regulations 2015.
