Key Role Duties and ResponsibilitiesRole RequirementsRemuneration This is a fixed term contract of six months duration starting April 2024 for a consultant in intensive care medicine within the intensive care department of a tertiary hospital in one of New Zealand's largest cities. At the end of this fixed term contract there may be a possibility to extend the contract or take up a permanent position
The hospital has over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinical specialities include Women's and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, a major trauma centre, neurosurgery and Mental Health and Addiction. It is a regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.
The ICU is a state of the art, 16-bed facility providing general adult and paediatric intensive care, catering to the needs of 1500 ICU patients and almost 3000 HDU level patients each year. There is also a retrieval service by both air and road for critical care patients and a large contingency of cardiac patients.
The ICU is on the path of expansion, increasing bed capacity and has been credentialed by the College of Critical Care Medicine at level C24 and for training of junior and senior medical staff.

To be successful in your application for this opportunity as the Consultant Intensivist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: A degree in medicine - MBBS, MBChB, MDFellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent specialist qualificationMedical Council of New Zealand vocational registration or eligibility for this in the scope of intensive care medicine.Both single and dual trained specialists are encouraged to apply.
