Korero mo te turanga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is looking for a delivery focused and experienced HR Advisor to join the Advisory team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the HR Manager for Central Services, you will be joining the second largest employer in Wellington, a multidisciplinary HR team of over 50, and an organisation that is transforming and evolving the tertiary education experience. This role is fast-paced, complex, extremely rewarding, and motivating because you support clients who directly enable the experience of students at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
As HR Advisor you will provide timely and professional advice on HR policies, processes, and systems; in particular providing comprehensive employment relations advice. You will support managers through organisational design, change management, and provide critical thinking about the way things can be done to provide clients with guidance, support, and methodologies to enhance the people experience.

You will know when to engage your colleagues to work as a team, support your colleagues when they need it, and ask for support when you need it too.
Key Requirements:
Proven advisory experience across a variety of HR functions.
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of employment legislation and “Good Employer” practices across a range of employment relations areas.
Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
Demonstrable experience utilising data and technology.
Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
