The successful applicant will play a key role in bringing our vision of Safety Always to life by working with Te Papa managers and kaimahi with the implementation of our health and safety management system in support of our strategy to put health, safety and wellbeing at the heart of all we do and the decisions we make.You will:Support the Manager Health and Safety with the implementation of the health and safety management systemAssist with developing wellbeing initiatives for Te Papa kaimahiCoach Te Papa leaders in their understanding and effectiveness in managing risks to health and safety in order to drive safety performance improvementsDevelop and maintain a training programme to increase manager and kaimahi understanding of health and safety legislation, and their obligations and core principles of Safety AlwaysSome of the great things about working at Te Papa are:The exposure to different operating contexts and rolesIts bicultural culture and vision to be a Tiriti-based museumThe arts and culture sectorWorking in a public good and commercial organisationThat anything is possibleTo be successful in this role you will have:A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience, and be an active member of HASANZ, NZISM or similar2-3 years' working experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in an operational environmentKnowledge of wellness concepts in the work environmentExperience in risk assessments and the development and monitoring of risk controlsA working and in-depth knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislationKnowledge of what good health and safety practices and performance looks likeA good working knowledge of health and safety management systemsAbility to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environmentExcellent organisational skillsExcellent communication skills including: verbal, written and listeningAbility to establish, build and maintain great relationships both internally and externally, establishing trust and credibilityStrong computer skills particularly with the Microsoft Office suiteThe starting salary for this position will be between $72,000 to $90,000pa with further room for progression through the band.
