This year’s General Election will be held on Saturday 19 September 2020 and it will be New Zealand’s biggest one yet. It involves over 25,000 staff working across the country.
We’re looking for people to work on a Casual basis at electorate headquarters before, on and after Election Day. If you have strong customer service skills and enjoy working in teams, you should consider getting involved.
There are a range of roles requiring different skills for different lengths of time.
The nature of the work means that you’ll need to be flexible and dependable. Some roles may need to travel around their electorate.
Managers and Process Leaders
You will manage or supervise teams who undertake detailed election processes such as arranging for advance voting or the counting of votes. You'll help manage the planning, rostering and supplies for advance voting or oversee post-election processes. You'll also have responsibility for monitoring and reporting and will work with your manager to resolve any issues that arise.
Administrative Support roles
You’ll undertake many duties including assisting with the packing and distribution of supplies, data entry and vote counting.
We’re looking for people who can:
follow detailed instructions
work well under pressure to meet deadlines
work with a diverse group of people
have strong focus on customer service
pay attention to detail
be politically neutral
Safety and Wellbeing
Your safety and that of voters is critical. No matter where you work at the Electoral Commission, protocols will be in place to keep you safe and to manage customers under applicable Covid-19 Alert Levels. This may include personal protective equipment, should it be necessary, for which you will receive training.
