TheGarment Technicianrole is responsible to create specifications based on designer brief for various product categories. This role needs to be technically capable of taking the garments from design stage to final pre-production sample stage.
Main Responsibilities
Spec
Create specifications based on design brief; ensuring all information is clear, detailed and includes cut/make comments to assist supplier to make proto
Measure and assess reference sample to ensure it meets spec and design prior to fitting
Check BOM is completed
Send any toile/reference sample to copy - supplier to return with proto
Hand-over spec to design in line with critical path
Proto stage
The Garment Technician is responsible for:
Measure samples and assess for quality/make and update spec prior to fitting
Fit with design, action all comments and update spec as required.
Hand-over proto sample and spec to design in line with critical path
SMS stage
The Garment Technician is responsible for:
Measure all SMS and assess for quality/make, update spec prior to fitting
Fit with design, action all comments and update spec in a timely manner as required
Hand-over SMS sample and spec to production in line with critical path
Ensure any potential technical issues are raised with Production Manager at SMS fit
PPS stage
The Garment Technician is responsible for:
Measure all PPS samples and assessing for make/quality prior to fitting
Fit with production and action all comments, update spec and confirm sketch is correct as required
Hand-over PPS sample and spec to production in line with critical path
Communication
This role needs to communicate with suppliers to ensure they understand the requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum 5-8 years solid garment tech experience is required
Designer brand preferred
Pattern making experience preferred
Style Cad knowledge preferred
Sound understanding of the fitting process, a clear understanding of local and offshore fashion manufacturing process.
