We enjoy spot lunches, and great Christmas get-togethers and encourage and offer opportunities to current employees to grow and develop their skills - sometimes even moving around the country to another yard!The Forklift Operator is responsible for working safely and efficiently, including but not limited to:Receiving and moving materials ensuring handling is kept to a minimum.Sort different types of scrap metal based on categories, such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and separate them into appropriate designated areas or containers.Maintain an orderly and clean yard by arranging materials, stacking, and storing scrap metalin designated areas to optimize space and facilitate easy access.Conduct basic maintenance tasks on equipment and tools used in the yard, includingcleaning, lubricating, and reporting any malfunctions or damages.Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment(PPE) and following safe work practices to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, weights, and other relevant information to ensure proper documentation and tracking.Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and drivers to coordinatetasks, share information, and ensure a smooth workflow.Follow environmental regulations and guidelines related to scrap metal recycling, including the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.Identify and suggest process improvements, efficiency enhancements, or cost-saving measures to optimize yard operations.Carry out housekeeping tasks as directed and to a high standard.Ensure all health and safety and PPE requirements are met.Carry out any other tasks as directed by management and to the required standards. Skills and Experience Required:Familiarity with forklift machines, equipment and associated tools.Proficiency in safely operating and maintaining the forklift.Ability to perform repairs and replacements as required.Wheels Tracks and Rollers licensePhysically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 20kg.Knowledge of yard safety rules and methodsTime management skillsReliable and hardworkingRelevant work experience is preferred, but not compulsory Qualifications:Forklift license is preferredWheels Tracks and Rollers license is desirable,but not required.Some experience working in a workshop, construction site, or recycling factory OR qualification is preferred but not compulsory.Class 4 license will be an advantage but not compulsory.Relevant forklift operating qualification is preferred but not compulsory.Hours of Work:A minimum of 40 hours per week is guaranteed.Location: You may be required to work in several locations in New Zealand.Drug & Alcohol Testing:New hire and random drug/alcohol testing is proudly completed to help keep our workspaces safe.If this sounds like you, please send your resume and brief cover letter outlining your experience.Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
