Our IT company has grown in the last year to the level where we would value the contribution of a seasoned accounting professional To make the most out of this impressive growth we are looking for someone technical with good understanding of IT cybersecurity and privacy domains and of the characteristics and challenges of the industry both in New Zealand and Europe where we expect expanding operations We expect our new team member to go beyond number crunching take interest in what we do and upskill Your Role In this hands on role you will take ownership of our accounting information systems and provide guidance and support in financial and taxation matters to management You will work with the directors to create and validate the chart of accounts analyse operating costs and optimise cash flow and expenditure You will use your reporting expertise to create modify and maintain key reports for financial and management reporting and presentations You will create review and improve policies procedures and processes You will assist with month end tasks budgeting forecasting You will be the author and presenter of the financial statements and tax returns You will be security conscious and safeguard the audit trails and preserve financial information and privacy data in compliance with relevant regulations You will be the key contact person for the IRD the banks and will be proactive in managing deadlines You will be the compliance officer for both our NZ and international operations You will work independently but must be capable to follow strict rules and act as part of the team Your Profile The ideal candidate will be CA CPA or equivalent qualified and have a solid knowledge of how IT businesses work Being a security and privacy minded individual is a must You will have sound accounting analytical skills proven experience working with Xero and are an expert Excel user including VBA and macros with above average IT abilities You may have a minor in information systems or a relevant qualification certification You will have a strong grasp of data and accounting workflow and proven experience in report writing You will be competent in NZ and European taxation and know how DTAs work You will have some develpment experience or at the very least you will be familiar with regular expressions with some flavour of SQL XML JavaScript and XSLT You will work equally easy on Windows and Linux and remoting over VPN tunnels would come natural to you You are a troubleshooter and you will know where to look when problems arise or who to engage with to solve problems You will have initiative and be confident in your communication with a varied array of stakeholders and third parties You will be able to translate accounting and IT speak into simple terms yet excellent written and spoken English You will be keen to keep your professional level and certifications you already have and attain new ones as required We require the applicant to be able to work in New Zealand preferably with immediate availability and have a recent police vetting certificate To apply please send your CV and cover letter in PDF format to work meditadvisors com
