Requirements - qualifications and experienceRemuneration and benefits Two emergency Physicians are required for fixed term 12 month contracts to cover maternity leave. There may be the possibility of extension to a full-time position. 

The jobs are based in one of New Zealand's largest regional general hospitals which has 400+ beds, ICU, full range of clinical services and a busy aero medical retrieval service. 

The Emergency Department sees presentations of over 50,000 per annum. The patient mix is diverse and a majority of patients are of high acuity and frequently have late presentations. The department receives around 100 major trauma ISS >12 presentations per year. There is active ED ultrasound and ready access to a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service, including CT, MRI, Angiography and Nuclear Medicine.

The emergency department is staffed by 16 Emergency Physicians, 15 registrars and 15 House Officers. It has ACEM accreditation for 24 months of training in Emergency Medicine. The department has a strong commitment to the teaching of both trainees and final year medical students from the University of Otago.

Role Responsibilities You will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive clinical service in Emergency Medicine You will provide clinical management of Emergency Medicine patients utilising evidence based practice.You will lead, supervises, coordinate and manage the care of patients with life threatening conditions, including multiple traumas.You will participate fully in the Emergency Medicine Consultant roster including on call as rostered.You will provide clinical services as determined appropriate for a 24 hour emergency service, including telephone or video-conference consultations Essential Role Requirements
