Become a VSA Volunteer and share your experience, knowledge and skills to transform the lives of many, provide greater cultural understanding, and create a fair future for all.About volunteering with VSAVSA is New Zealand's largest and most experienced volunteering agency working in international development. We provide skilled Kiwi volunteers to support organisations in the Pacific and beyond through capacity building, both in country and virtually.E-volunteers receive a monthly honorarium to help cover the costs associated with undertaking the assignment.Our Partner OrganisationAssosiasaun Turizmu Koleku Mahanak Ataúro (ATKOMA) is a group of tourism advocates working to develop low-impact toursim in Timor-Leste. This group of dedicated tourism champions is not only advocating for the interests of the tourism industry and future visitors, but is also committed to ensuring tourismeconomically supports the people of Ataúro and minimizes negative environmental and socio-cultural impacts. ATKOMA's main activities include destination marketing, tourism training and mentoring, research, planning, development and advocacy.The AssignmentA VSA Localised Volunteer (Timorese volunteer who has completed a tourism scholarship programme in New Zealand) has been working with ATKOMA to strengthen their governance structure and management systems. A VSA e-volunteer is required to work alongside the localised volunteer to assist with the development of eco-tourism guidelines and community awareness programmes, and to advise ATKOMA on Eco-Tourism business opportunities for Ataúro Island.The VolunteerWe're looking for a volunteer with the following essential experience and knowledge:Experience working in, or developing an eco-tourism business.Knowledge of internationally recognised eco-tourism principles and practices.Experience providing training, mentoring, or awareness raising for eco-tourism providers.Experience developing marketing material, collateral and promotion strategies including using social media for tourism.Experience developing marketing material, collateral and promotion strategies including using social media for tourism.Apply Now!Apply for this amazing opportunity through our website.
