District Prosecution Manager - People Leader role Based in Manukau Permanent, Full-Time Police Employee / Office of Constable Nationally Advertised Vacancy Stand at the stern of the canoe and feel the spray of the future biting at your face Mo te tunga | About the role New Zealand Police are offering a rare and exciting opportunity for both constabulary and police employee staff to join the Police Prosecution Service (PPS) as a District Prosecution Manager (DPM), in Manukau, Tamaki Makaurau. This position has arisen as a result of additional DPM roles being created. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with the existing District Prosecution Managers within the Manukau office. You will be joining PPS at the start of an exciting period; with a significant injection of new funding and the Prosecutions Uplift Programme established to support this, PPS is recruiting new staff, establishing new roles and looking to develop new ways of working – all with the goal of ensuring our national team provides great prosecution services to our community and are well supported to do a great job. We are pleased to be able to use this funding to recruit a substantial number of additional staff to support our hardworking teams. We will be streamlining and creating consistency in our practices and introducing greater flexibility into our resourcing so we can inject extra support into offices when work demands change. We want to enhance PPS systems and policies so that our staff are supported and continue to be proud to be a part of the PPS whanau. The District Prosecution Manager will be instrumental in this. As a DPM you will lead a diverse group of Constabulary Prosecutors, Police Employee lawyers, and support staff. You will be responsible for the daily administrative and management requirements of your team; but more than this you will have the opportunity to lead our people and 'our business'. You will deliver national strategy through operationalising tactics, deploy resources, manage risk, and be accountable for your team's performance. You will interact with internal Police employees at multiple levels - from members of the senior leadership team, such as District and Area Commanders, through to operational investigators and support staff. You will also form part of a wider management team within the PPS linking your team to Prevention, Response, and Investigative staff within the district, and to PPS National Office. As a DPM you will interact with justice sector stakeholders and represent the Police position on matters under discussion. The ability to communicate with tact, knowledge, and authority, and to present a logical and evidence-based perspective is critical.
