Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) is one of thelargest of New Zealand’s District Health Boards covering estimated 570,000population residents and one of the largest employers in the Counties Manukaudistrict employing more than 7,000 people across the region. The DistrictHealth Board is responsible for funding and providing services to localresidents and achieves this through funding from the Crown.
Stretching from urban to rural settings, CountiesManukau is youthful with an estimated 124,000 people under age of 15 years andmore than 67,000 people aged over 65yrs. Counties Manukau is diverse wheremore than 2/3rds of the population self-identify as Maaori, Pacific and/orAsian. Although also experiencing relatively high levels of deprivationCounties Manukau is known for its vibrant, energetic and diverse communities.
CM Health is committed to improving the health equityoutcomes and experience for our community, and a key part of achieving this isby supporting the mental wellbeing of our large anddiverse Maaori population. The Deputy ClinicalDirector (Maaori MH) is a keysenior leadership role which is pivotal for the continued advancement of Mental Health at CM Health, in collaboration with other senior MH Management,Cultural and Clinical leadership.

As the Deputy Clinical Director (Maaori MH) you will beresponsible for;
providing clinical expertise, strategic advice and leadership to the Clinical Director and General Manager MH&A in shaping and developing Mental Health Service in Counties Manukau, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for Maori
providing support for Maaori whaiora and whanau receiving services from CM Health MH&A services,
supporting respectful and effective partnerships with Manawhanua, Iwi and Maaori providers across the rohe
building enhanced Maaori cultural competence across the CM Health MH&A workforce
actively maintaining and growing Maaori health workforce capacity and capability in CM Health MH&A services
Youwill need to be a registered Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive knowledgeof Maaori cultural values and along with skills and demonstrated ability in thedevelopment and management of staff. Fluency in Maaori language is strongpreferred along with a full & clean driver’s licence.
