Consultant Ophthalmologist, Ophthalmology at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Tairawhiti, Gisborne OPHTHALMOLOGIST ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Specialist Ophthalmologist for Hauora Tairawhiti who shares our values of Whakarangatira

collaboratively and with innovation, ensuring they provide high quality care to all our patients.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department provides general/ophthalmic services with the occasional visiting sub-specialist and superb
back up from a tertiary centre. The Department is equipped with a brand new phako machine and the usual
imaging and laser technologies, Zeiss Clarus, pentacam, OCT, argon/YAG/SLT laser etc. We provide a visiting
orthoptist and botox clinic. The Department is active in research (both university based and Matai Lab) and
teaching and there is a first year Ophthalmology Registrar employed.

You will be expected to contribute to all Departmental QA activities. Your working week will be split 70%
clinical and 30% non-clinical time and you will be expected to participate in the on-call roster.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates applying for this position will need to have;
Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) Vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Ophthalmology or be an overseas trained Ophthalmologist eligible for MCNZ Provisional Vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Ophthalmology or be eligible for Medical Council of New Zealand Special Purpose Scope of Practice – locum tenens registration ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
