We are looking for an Engagement Adviser to work two days a week with our well regarded and highly skilled Climate Change team. About this role | Ko tenei turanga mahi Council is developing its first ever Climate Change Strategy. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a strategic engagement programme to seek feedback on and raise awareness of the Strategy. A key part of this role will be to inform our wider community about the impacts of climate change on Te Tau Ihu, and to discuss what part they can play in shifting to a low emission and climate resilient future. Futhermore, you will: Partner with our mana whenua governance adviser iwi and a diverse range of stakeholders including technical advisers, our internal communication and climate change teams and climate change groups as you build the engagement programme. Manage the logistics of delivering the engagement programme such as developing an innovative engagement approach, organising meetings, building partnerships and gathering and presenting feedback to Council. Lead discussions and facilitate ideas from the community on climate change through various outreach activities. Provide other support to the Manager Climate Change on a range of work as needed. About you | Ko nga pumanawa ou As an Engagement Adviser you will have the ability to design high impact, sustainable engagement programmes and initiatives. You will possess: Climate change or sustainability related experience. Alternatively you will have a demonstrated interest and passion for climate change science, impact, policy and action. A passion for bringing people together using your ability to influence others and establish and maintain positive strategic relationships through your willingness to listen and consider a range of views. Excellent stakeholder engagement, personal prioritisation, ability to deliver to deadlines and excellent written/oral communication skills. A commitment to partnering with iwi with an understanding of Matauranga Maori, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. A relevant tertiary level qualification.
