Public Relations & Corporate Affairs (Marketing & Communications) The Serious Fraud Office is a highly specialised government department responsible for the investigation and prosecution of serious or complex financial crime, including bribery and corruption. We take pride in the work we do to keep New Zealand safe from financial crime. We employ a clever team of accountants, investigators, lawyers, electronic forensic, policy, and counter fraud experts to do just that and, importantly, we have a small support team that enables them to focus on their work. Numbering eighty, we are a cohesive team with a strong sense of justice and a vibrant culture. The SFO seeks an accomplished communications specialist to join either our Commercial Bay, Auckland or The Terrace, Wellington team as Communications Lead. This is a salaried twelve-months fixed term employment status position with full-time hours, covering a period of parental leave. In the role of Communications Lead, you will report to our Deputy Chief Executive Strategy and Engagement and work closely with our Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team, and government stakeholders such the Minister's office, Public Service Commission and Justice sector. In this sole-charge role your remit is focused on media engagement, including responding to enquiries and writing and delivering statements and releases. You will manage our website and social media presence, and act as event manager for our significant announcements. You will deliver our Annual Report and ad hoc publications, help formulate our responses to Select Committee questions, and manage and act as custodian of our brand. To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated achievement in broad communications roles where you have had sole responsibility for delivering strategic and operational level products and tasks. Experience working within or with the New Zealand public sector is beneficial, as is connection with the New Zealand media community. You are an accomplished wordsmith and apply your craft appropriately across platforms and audiences. An effective and engaging communicator, you enjoy constructing and delivering compelling messaging. Highly collaborative, you have an ability to quickly understand facts, complexities, and intent, to inform your work product. Possessing an eye for design, you have competency with a range of applications used to create presentations and publications. We offer an additional week of annual leave that covers the three usual workdays between Christmas and New Year plus two days to use at your discretion. Each year we are allocated 20 days of sick leave, with no initial stand-down period, which can be accumulated to a maximum balance of 260 days.
