To support the Kitchen Manager in establishing The EIT Hub Cafe as the premier food service provider by ensuring there is a primary focus on a passion for food and an excellence in service.
The Café Assistant is based at our EIT | Te Pukenga Tairawhiti campus reporting to the Tourism & Hospitality School and Campus Café Team Leader and will be responsible for:
Maintaining and participating in stock controlAssisting Team Leader with records of food sales for staff and studentsPreparing and cooking fresh food items for the campus café including on and off-site catering and function eventsConducting schedule maintenance and ensuring high standards of cleanliness in kitchen, restaurant, preparation area and barista areaUndertaking additional responsibilities and tasks relevant to this position as requested by the position managerTo be successful in this role you will have: Experience in hospitality stock controlExpertise in and current knowledge of food hygiene regulations and food safety plansGood interpersonal and customer facing skills, able to empathise, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness, within a sometimes-pressurised environmentEnjoy prepping food, developing recipes and taking pride in presentationLove coffee, developing skills, relationship with customer orders and taking pride in presentationAs an inclusive and supportive employer, we value diversity and want to encourage anyone interested to apply, regardless of whether you tick all the boxes or not.
