The Settlement will see the return of significant assets which will support numerous developments currently underway e.g. Whakatohea Aquaculture program, the Opotiki harbour development, and other land-based developments. It's an exciting time to be a part of our continued success story.Te aheinga - The opportunity:The Whakatohea Te Punga o te Moana Kaiarahi works for the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board in Opotiki to organize and coordinate activities and events in conjunction with the Cawthron Institute outlined in the project schedules that make up the Te Punga o te Moana Memorandum of Understanding between Cawthron Institute and the Whakatohea Trust Board. The schedules cover working with education, community, hapu and whanau on aquaculture related events, programmes, and activities.As part of Cawthron Institute's MBIE funded Te Punga o te Moana/Open Ocean Aquaculture Project, the institute is extending its long-standing relationship with open ocean aquaculture pioneers, Whakatohea Maori Trust Board through Te Putahi Rangahau (or Living Lab). Te Putahi Rangahau encompasses a programme of activities, events and fora that ensure that the open ocean project is anchored in Maori values and aspirations and supports the trust board's strategic plan for aquaculture.This is a part-time (two days a week), three year fixed-term contract.Work with ECE, Primary Schools and Opotiki College to work towards establishing Aquaculture Programmes.Facilitate conversations around "Whakatohea hitori", korero tuku iho in relation to the Moana.Assist in the set up and facilitation of hui and wananga.Support Whakatohea's aspirations to develop the Research Centre alongside Cawthron, Opotiki College, and other institutions.Complete weekly reports for team hui, and bi-monthly reports for Board hui.To provide general administrative duties as required by this position, including reporting general management of the service.Utilise all systems, including Monday.com, and other key programmes to develop the Operations Planning and Implementation.Experience working in and coordinating in areas of research, hui, policy statements and training would be highly beneficial.An interest and experience working in the aquaculture research fields.Strong administration and organisational skills.Excellent written and vernbal communication skills.Developed relationships within Whakatohea and and understanding of tikanga and history.Ability to engage through wananga and hui.If your skills and experience match this role, please APPLY NOW!
