Student Services (Education & Training)Government (Government & Defence)Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of AucklandOur mission and values place a strong emphasis on both our student body and our scholarly community, and we work with both community and enterprise to advance the well-being of the peoples of Auckland and New Zealand, with a clear commitment to pursuing sustainability.Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join the team at FMHS as Academic Services Manager, on a fixed term basis, to provide leadership ensuring effective faculty-based academic services to students and academic leaders across the faculty's academic programmes (including doctoral and sub-doctoral research).You will be responsible for managing the faculty's relationships with central Academic Services, Student Hubs and the School of Graduate Studies to ensure delivery of a high quality, seamless and holistic service and student experience for the University's students.Key responsibilities include:Providing leadership, mentoring and direction for staff.Assuming responsibility for the implementation of faculty and University strategic and annual plans as they relate to academic and student services in the faculty.Ensuring accurate and appropriate advice is available within the Student Hub and Central Academic Services relating to admissions, academic progress and programme completion matters relating to the faculty's academic programmes and courses.Assuming responsibility and accountability for the financial management and audit of cost centres within department to allow for the greatest use of resource to further the goals of the department.Facilitating and monitoring hand-offs within admissions and enrolment processes between central teams and faculty teamsThis is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), fixed term opportunity (providing cover for the current Manager's secondment) commencing May 2024 for 12 months.The remuneration is $94,900 - $117,200 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.This role works closely with the Student Support team, the Student Hubs at Grafton Campus, and the Faculty academic leadership. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective faculty-based academic services are provided to students and academic leaders across the faculty's academic programmes.To be considered for this position, our ideal candidate will bring:Significant experience in a management role with proven experience in operational planning and implementation within a large, complex organisation.Demonstrated skills and experience in team building, change management and working collaboratively.Extensive knowledge of trends and best practice in customer service including service design, digital delivery and self-service.Demonstrable understanding of Te ao Maori and experience of developing cultural competency within a team.Experience and understanding of academic and student services and other university related information systems.The University of Auckland is New Zealand's leading university and maintains significant computational, laboratory and analytic facilities.
