Permanent part-time, district wide role (0.5 FTE / 20 hours per week)
Make a difference working with young people and their family and whanau
About our teams
Our teams are inclusive of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS), Addiction Service and Early Intervention Service (EIS). Each service has a different age range as part of their intake criteria, ranging from infants to age 30 years. Each team is multi-disciplinary with a psychiatrist, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and counsellors. Currently the three teams are based in separate locations with close liaison between teams.
About the roles
We are looking for a part time Youth Consumer Advisor to join our teams. This is a pivotal role in our mental health, addictions and early intervention service. In this role you will represent the "voice" of our consumers. One our key priorities is that youth and their family and whanau are central to our approach -nothing about us, without us.You will participate in interagency meetings and contribute to work across the sector. Your role will be to bring the voice of our consumer to all these forums and ensure a person centred approach system wide.
About you
You will be able to draw on your personal experience of a mental health or substance use issue and will be a current or past user of Child or Adolescent Mental Health or Addiction services. You will bring that perspective to service delivery. You will need strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with different agencies and community providers, and to ensure that the consumer perspective is strongly represented across the Youth Mental Health and Addictions sector.
Whilst we are looking for experience we recruit primarily for attitude. You will need to fit into a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour and respect across disciplines and you will engender confidence, trust and rapport with clients, their support networks and other agencies and service providers.
Due to this being a district wide position you will be required to travel to Blenheim and Motueka on a regular basis. It is therefore important that you hold a full drivers licence.
