Our teams provide contract maintenance, steel fabrication, mechanical engineering, truck and machinery servicing, civil construction, safety solutions and project management expertise.About the roleWe are seeking a trade certified Heavy Fabrication or General Engineer (or long serving journeyman) with at least 10 years' relevant experience to support the Workshop Supervisor in managing the day to day operations of the engineering workshop as well as working on the toolsKey ResponsibilitiesSupport the workshop supervisor and operations manager in managing various projects and fabrication tasksAssist with procurement of materials necessary to complete the jobProvide trade guidance and assistance as part of a work teamEnsure quality compliance procedures are followed and wastage is kept to a minimumAssist the Supervisor in arranging on the job staff trainingAssume the responsibilities of the supervisor in their absenceUndertake general engineering tasks as allocated by the workshop supervisor.Experience/Skills requiredA minimum of 10 years proven industry (workshop) experience in an engineering environmentStrong safety focusAbility to guide and motivate staffWell-organised work practices with the ability to multi-task and set prioritiesAn excellent understanding of structural steel fabrication assembly drawings and mechanical isometric drawings, for residential, commercial and industrial projectsIn addition, you will have:Strong work ethic and reliabilityThe ability to work un-supervisedA positive attitude and be a good team workerOrganised work practices with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlinesGood understanding of and adherence to Health and Safety requirementsBDX is a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
